A barbarian in Rajasthan

This title is to paraphrase that of Henri Michaux's travel diary, “Un barbare en Asie”.

If the barbarian is first and foremost the foreigner by language and geography, he is also the foreigner whose culture and society are in a certain way inferior.

Beneath a thin layer of “developing” countrie, India, a confederation of states, peoples and religions, displays a feeling of power, tranquility and confidence in its future.
And it is we westerners who can learn from this civilization.
